The town is well served with a variety of schooling around the town (primary and secondary) with private education on offer at St Johns in Chepstow some seven miles away. Lydney provides easy access to the M4/M5 and is close to the Royal Forest of Dean with its woodland walks, cycle ways, The Speech House and sculpture trail, Lydney Park Estate and Lydney Docks. There is a bus and train station within the town.
